A CLOSER LOOK

Nutrition: the essentials.

What matters, what to check, and where to go from here.

  1. 01

Build around food you can sustain

Start with the meals you regularly eat, the time and budget available, cultural preferences and any diagnosed restrictions. A useful routine has to work on ordinary days. General food guidance is different from a therapeutic diet; a registered dietitian or other qualified professional can help when a condition or complex need is involved.

  2. 02

Look at patterns before adding products

Notice meal regularity, variety and what makes preparation difficult. Buying a supplement does not automatically solve low energy or replace the range of components in food. If symptoms persist, get them assessed rather than treating them as proof of a nutrient deficiency.

  3. 03

Read labels with a clear purpose

Check serving size, ingredients and the amount per serving. For supplements, compare against other products you use to avoid unintentional overlap, and ask about medicine interactions. A quality seal and evidence that a product improves a health outcome answer different questions.

  4. 04

    Prepare for nutrition support

Bring a realistic account of usual meals, relevant health history, medicines, supplements and your goals. Explain constraints honestly so advice can be practical. The supplement guide and blood-results guide can help you separate marketing claims from information worth discussing.
